Tonight, the second leg of the CAF Champions League final will take place at the Stade Mohammed V, where Wydad Casablanca will be hosting Al Ahly SC.
In the previous week’s first leg in Cairo, Al Ahly secured a 2-1 victory, with Percy Tau and Kahraba netting two goals for their team. However, Saifeddine Bouhra managed to score in the 86th minute, reducing the deficit for Wydad Casablanca.
After falling short in their quest for the title against the same opponents last season, the Cairo giants are determined to secure a record-extending 11th Champions League championship.
Al Ahly’s squad has received a significant boost with the return of injured players, including the experienced goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy, who was absent during the first leg.
Despite the anticipation of a large crowd at the game, coach Marcel Koller has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to claim victory in Morocco. He stated, “Wydad’s fans will not impact our performance; they will simply be supporting their team.”
Koller further emphasized the preparedness of the Ahly players for the match and expressed satisfaction with the prospect of playing in front of numerous fans. He highlighted the players’ high level of motivation, particularly after their triumph in the first leg, giving them an advantage as Wydad’s goal did not alter the outcome, as stated by the Swiss coach.
Wydad will have to cope without midfielder Abdellah Haimoud, who recently underwent appendectomy surgery in Egypt following the first leg match.
Additionally, forward Zouhair El Moutaraji’s availability for the game remains uncertain as he is still recovering from an injury sustained during the previous encounter.
The two teams have crossed paths on 12 occasions, with Al Ahly triumphing in five encounters and Wydad securing victory three times.
