Nations Cup draw, November 20th

The African Cup of Nations draw will be held on November 20 in Angola’s capital Luanda, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Tuesday.


“The ceremony, which will be witnessed by CAF President Issa Hayatou and CAF executive committee members, will also have in attendance the 16 finalists and teams representatives , expected to emerge from the on going qualifiers,” the African governing body said in a statement.

Egypt, who hold the record for most Nations Cup triumphs with six titles, ensured their progress to the tournament with one match to spare in the qualifiers.

The Pharaohs, winners of the 2006 and 2008 editions, will be top seeds in the draw.

Algeria, Gabon, Cameroon, Tunisia, Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, Benin, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso have also qualified for the biennial tournament.

The remaining four participants will be determined later this month when the last round of the qualifiers takes place.
