Egypt squad is ready for Senegal Game
Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed Hamoudi are the last foreign-based players to join Egypt’s training camp ahead of their match with Senegal
Basel midfield duo Mohamed Elneny and Ahmed Hamoudi were the latest players to join Egypt’s training camp on Tuesday morning ahead of the crucial clash against Senegal.
Egypt take on Senegal in a do-or-die clash on Saturday before facing Tunisia away five days later as they seek qualification to the African Nations Cup for the first time since lifting the last of their record seven titles in 2010.
According to the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) official website, Elneny and Hamoudi were the last foreign-based players to join the camp after Chelsea’s Mohamed Salah and Hull City’s Ahmed Elmohamady arrived on Monday.
Egypt, who are missing key striker Amr Gamal and regular left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafi, as well as goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy due to injuries, must beat Senegal to stand a chance of reaching next year’s Morocco finals.
Gharib warns Egypt players
Egypt coach Shawky Gharib has warned his players to be aware of Senegal’s attacking line ahead of the match on Saturday.

“We have no other choice but to win against Senegal to continue our African campaign successfully, but at the same time we must tighten our defence,” Gharib told Reuters on Wednesday.
“Despite losing their prominent striker Demba Ba, Senegal has a great striking force and our defenders must be on target.
“We are also concentrating with our strikers to find attacking solutions that don’t affect our defence negatively,” added Gharib.
The Pharaohs are third in Group G with six points. Tunisia are top with 10 points, three more than second-placed Senegal.
