Jurgen Klopp’s side were favorites to win the Premier League ahead of the season. However, injuries and players underperforming have led to Liverpool’s downfall as they currently sit sixth in the Premier League table 22 points behind runaway leaders Manchester City. Star Players like Sadio Mane, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Roberto Firmino have all been underwhelming this season.

Liverpool’s current form and league position has been the catalyst to certain claims regrading them finishing outside the top four and outside the UEFA Champions League places, which has fuelled speculations regarding their two stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane leaving Anfield in favor of La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

This can be a logical option for Jurgen Klopp to rebuild the attack from scratch and cash in on the duo who are already in their late twenties. The acquisition of Diogo Jota from Wolves has been a smart piece of business from the reds as the 24-year-old Portuguese started off in a bright fashion in Merseyside.

According to former Irish legend and Manchester City start, Richard Dunne “They definitely need new faces in the squad. What Liverpool have done over the last three years has been amazing, they have been so intense in their play and hugely successful, but this season they ran out of steam,” writing in his column for Sunday World. He further wrote “They have struggled this season and they need a change, that new identity to allow them to go again.

Mohamed Salah has been valued at 110 million Euros according to the Transfermarkt while Sadio Mane is valued at 85 million Euros. If Liverpool does manage to sell the attacking duo, they can revamp their attack options with players like Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe up for sale in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Liverpool have also been linked with a 50 million pound move for French and FC Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele who has shown promising signs despite his injury problems. Furthermore, the club can also use the sum acquired from the sales to improve their lackluster defense which has been a huge problem for Jurgen Klopp throughout the season.

The Reds have important decisions to make ahead of the summer transfer window in regards to keeping their star attacking duo or to cash in on them as their valuations will only go down once they reach their thirties.

However, if they do stay at the club, there is no doubt that their commitment and importance to this Liverpool side will remain constant.
