Despite beating Belgian side KSC Lokeren 2-1 at the KC Stadium courtesy of a Robbie Brady double and drawing the tie 2-2 on aggregate, it was the Tigers’ luck that was out as Lokeren progressed courtesy of the away goals rule.
It was typically dramatic. A penalty, a red card, a clearance off the line with the last kick of the game and some pretty baffling refereeing decisions made for an interesting night.
