Zamalek 3-1 MCDR | Video Review


The Cairo giants move to within one point of Egyptian League leaders ENPPI after their 3-1 win over Maqassa on Tuesday.

Zamalek regained their winning rhythm in the Egyptian League on Tuesday when they defeated Maqassa 3-1 at Air defense stadium.
Ahmed Samir opened the scoring in the 36 minute of the game, while former Zamalek midfielder Ayman Abdel-Aziz scored the equalizer for Maqassa three minutes before the hour-mark.

Zamalek’s forward Moemen Zakareya added a second goal in the 76 th minute and Maqssa’s defender Ahmed El-Sayed made it 3-1 for the White Knights after scoring an own goal two minutes before time.

The Cairo giants made a calm start as the first threat came in the 20th minute when forward Moemen Zakareya received a nice pass from Bassem Morsy and fired one from close range that was blocked by Maqassa’s veteran keeper Mostafa Kamal.

One minute later, defender Ali Gabr was close to scoring the opener for Zamalek but his shot was deflected by Maqassa’s defense.

In the 35th minute Maqassa’s defender Ahmed El-Sayed stamped the foot of Zamalek’s striker Bassem Morsy inside the area to cost his side a penalty converted by fullback Ahmed Samir one minute later.

In the second half Zamalek’s coach Jaime Pacheco introduced his striker Khaled Kamar at the expense of winger Hazem Emam ito intensify his front line, but substitute Ayman Abdel-Aziz shocked Zamalek’s coach to score the equalizer in the 57th minute with a rocketing shot from outside the area.

But Zamalek responded quickly 12 minutes later when Zakareya scored the second goal after receiving an accurate low cross from Omar Gaber to score in an empty net.

Maqassa tried to equalize the scoring but their attempts were blocked by Zamalek’s compact defense.

Following Tuesday’s win, Zamalek reduced the gap fromleaders ENPPI to one point as they have now 25 points just one behind the petroleum club’s 26.
