The Egyptian Premier League returned after more than a year of disruption, with defending champions Ahli edging Ghazl Mahalla 1-0.
The only goal of the game was hit by Dominique da Silva after 12 minutes.
The first league game since last February’s Port-Said disaster took place behind closed doors at the Air Defense Stadium, which hosts Zamalek’s clash with Ittihad later.
