El Masry (Port Said), who are back in the top flight after ending a self-imposed exile, played out a 1-1 draw with Police Union to atone for an opening 2-0 defeat by Zamalek.
Masry midfielder Abdel-Aziz Tawfik opened the scoring on the stroke of halftime but El-Shorta’s in-form striker Qamar secured a share of spoils two minutes past the hour mark.
