El-Badry drops ENNPI and runs back to Al Ahly

Hossam El Badry - Ennpi Coach

Egyptian club Ahly appointed former coach Hossam El-Badry as the team’s head coach on Sunday to succeed outgoing Portuguese tactician Manuel Jose Da Silva, who announced his departure from the Red Devils on Friday.

The 66-year-old Da Silva was reportedly unsatisfied with the situation in Egypt, given the uncertain future of Egyptian football following February’s Port Said Stadium disaster in which scores were killed and which led to the indefinite suspension of all domestic football activity.

52-year-old Hossam El-Badry also succeeded Jose in 2009, guiding Ahly to the Egyptian Premier League title in his first season in charge.
He then went to clinch the Sudanese league title with Merreikh’s Sudan, before retrning to Cairo with ENPPI in December 2010.

Al-Badry’s first assignment will be leading Ahly in the CAF Champions League group stage, which kicks off in July with a clash against Mazembe of DR Congo.
