Al Ahly runaway Souleymane Coulibaly joins Hurlford United

The Ivorian – who joined Al Ahly in a £1million deal from Killie in January – may only be using the junior side’s facilities to keep fit while he awaits a resolution to his controversial exit from the Egyptian club.

Former Kilmarnock striker Souleymane Coulibaly is being sued by former club Al Ahly.

Coulibaly fled to the UK at the end of May after spreading lies accusing the Cairo club of treating him like a ‘slave’.

“The player’s lawyer handed a statement to FIFA claiming the player’s unstable psychological state in 2013 and 2015,” Al Ahly’s legal advisor Helmy Abdelrazek said.

“These statements also prove that the player had totally healed by the time he came back to his footballing career. The player should have informed Al Ahly that he suffered from psychological disorder before he signing the contract with the club,” he continued.

The 22-year-old forward had also claimed he faced religious persecution from Al Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry, saying he forced the player to do the kneeling celebration after scoring the goal

“Concerning the religious persecution he mentioned then, this is absolutely far from the truth. Al Ahly signs several foreign players with different religious backgrounds and the club ever forced a player to perform specific religious rituals,” Abdelrazek concluded.

Al Ahly terminated the Ivorian’s contract in June and lodged a complaint to FIFA against the ex- Killie man, with the club’s head of recruitment, Essam Serag, telling a local radio station: “We are suing the player at FIFA.

“We have presented all the documents related to the player’s case and our stance is 100 per cent sound and lawful, and the proof is that the player could not move to any new club until now.

“The player offered to return to Al Ahly a while ago but the board turned his request down and affirmed he has no place inside the club.”
