Eno is back! | Moataz Eno

Ahli midfielder Moataz Eno made his long-awaited comeback in the Red Devils’ 2-1 defeat by Cluj University in a friendly match on Monday.

Eno was sidelined for over six months after damaging an anterior cruciate ligament later in November.

The former Zamalek player was introduced in the second half when Ahli were still taking the lead, but could not help them to a victory.

The Cairo giants were put ahead seven minutes from the hour mark but the Romanian side overturned their goal deficit afterwards.

The friendly game, in which all Ahli’s key players participated, was held as part of the Egyptian champions’ preparations for next season.

Throughout the first half, Ahli barely created any scoring opportunities, with left winger Sayed Moawad keep disturbing the opposition rearguard.

His persistent efforts could have resulted in an opener on 40 minutes when his deft pass found Fadl, who eventually missed the target.

Egypt skipper Ahmed Hassan and out-of-favor striker Francis Doe were sent in after the interval, replacing Mohamed Abou-Treika and Mostafa Shebeita respectively.

For a short while Ahli took control of the game before Fadl opened the scoring.

Ahmed Fathi sent a precise corner kick that Cluj keeper awkwardly overshot, before Fadl slotted into an empty net.

More players were introduced after Ahli took the lead, including Gilberto and Afrotto.

Cluj capitalized on a defensive lapse from defender Ahmed Al-Sayed to bring the score level.

Their second goal was netted with a follow-up effort right after keeper Sherif Ekrami blocked a penalty kick.
