A worn-out Zamalek side continues their bid towards a first Egyptian Premier League title in four years against struggling Dakhleya on Sunday, with one eye also set on the anticipated African Confederation Cup final a week later.
Zamalek labored to a precious 2-1 league win over Wadi Degla on Thursday to keep their pursuit of nemesis and leaders Ahly, but appeared largely exhausted as they still battle on three fronts.
Last week, they qualified for the Confederation Cup final after a 0-0 draw at Tunisia’s Etoile Sahel lifted them through with a 1-0 aggregate win as they chase their first ever triumph in Africa’s secondary club competition.
They face Morocco’s RS Berkane in the first leg of the final away from home next Sunday.
