Paul Le Guen’s men were stunned by an opening goal from Amine Chermiti inside the first minute.
They controlled much of the play but went in at the break a goal down; then less than a minute into the second period Samuel Eto’o finished a Pierre Webo cut-back to equalise.
A bizarre Aurelien Chedjou own-goal gave Tunisia the lead on 63 minutes, but Landry Nguemo smashed home a second equaliser barely a minute later.
Tunisia ended the match with 10 men after Ammar Jemel picked up a second yellow card for a push off the ball on Cameroon attacker Mohamadou Idrissou.
