Egypt coach Bob Bradley has included England-based defender Adam El-Abd, who currently plays for Championship side Brighton, in his squad for the first time. The move comes within the context of preparations for World Cup qualifiers set to begin in June.
Born in Brighton, England to an Egyptian father and British mother, El-Abd spent his entire career playing for Brighton.
“Bradley has watched him over the past few weeks and believes he will be a good addition to the team,” assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed told Modern Sports TV.
The Pharaohs’ defence suffered a massive blow recently with the sidelining of experienced defender Wael Gomaa, currently recovering from an injury.
