Egypt beats Japan & exits Toulon Tournament
The Egypt Olympic team waved goodbye to the friendly Toulon Tournament with a 3-2 win over Japan in the final Group A game.
The victory didnt help Egypt as Hollands win over Turkey in the other group match meant that the European duo have qualified together.
Holland, who thrashed Egypt 3-0 in the opener, lead the group with six points while Turkey went through with a better goal-difference over the young Pharaohs.
On a rain-soaked pitch, Hany Ramzys men gave away a 2-0 lead courtesy of quickfire goals by veteran Ahmed Eid and striker Marwan Mohsen.
Harras Hodoud and Egypt winger Eid converted an indirect freekick from inside the six-yard box in the 31st minute to make it 1-0.
A few minutes later, up-and-coming forward Mohsen claimed a fluke goal when the ball accidentally hit his knee before rolling into the net.
Bayern Munich youngster Takashi Usami pulled one back before the break and completed his brace three minutes into the second half.
With less than 10 minutes remaining, Zamalek defender Salah Soliman grabbed the winner for Egypt when he rose to head in Ali Fathis cross.
Egypt continue preparing for the Summer Olympic Games, where they open against Brazil on July 27.
