Egypt’s Olympic team were held to a 1-1 draw by Sudan in their opening Group C game of the Arab Cup.
Ghazl El-Mahalla midfielder Ahmed Magdy put Egypt ahead four minutes before the break after being set up by Shehab Ahmed but Sudan secured a share of spoils 10 minutes from time, thanks to a goal from Moawya Beshir.
Zamalek striker Amr Zaki played his first game with the Olympic team after coming on as a second-half substitute while Harras El-Hodoud forward Ahmed Eid was included in the starting line-up.
Zaki and Eid were shortlisted by coach Hany Ramzi to be named as two of the three over-age players who will take part in the Olympics at the end of this month.
