Shikabala to join Napoli on loan

Zamalek announced on Wednesday that team forward Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala’ would join Serie A side Napoli on a one-year loan deal after the Italian side offered 1,800,000 euro to complete the deal.

The 26-year-old forward has been under fire since his touchline spat with Coach Hassan Shehata during Zamalek’s 2-0 win over Maghreb Fes in a CAF Champions League match last may.

After the falling out, Shehata left his post as team coach before the club’s management convinced him to return, promising to take severe measures against the talented – if troublesome – forward.

Zamalek’s board fined Shikaballa 25 per cent of his contracted salary (some LE2 million) for his rambunctious behaviour, further announcing plans to loan him out for one year.

The player will now have the chance to play in the next edition of the Europa League, as Napoli ended fifth in the Serie A table last season.
