Basel is virtually crowned Swiss league champions for the fourth consecutive year after beating Young Boys 2-1 in the penultimate game of the season on Wednesday.
The win gives leaders Basel a three-point lead over second-placed Grasshopper, who beat St. Gallen 2-1, with one match to go.
Grasshopper’s task to clinch the title is almost impossible, given that they need to go level on points with Basel and overturn a huge goal difference of 16 goals.
Egypt forward Mohamed Salah started on the bench against Young Boys before replacing striker Marco Streller on the hour mark. Compatriot Mohamed El-Neny also came on as a second-half substitute, replacing David Degen with 11 minutes remaining.
