Ahly forward Walid Soliman is a major doubt for the game against Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco in the first leg of the CAF Champions League Round 16 after suffering a knee injury during Friday’s training session.
The 30-year-old winger has been one of Ahly’s best performers so far this season as the Red Devils seek to claim a record of nine CAF Champions League trophies during the current campaign.
Soliman left Friday’s training session with a knee problem during preparations for the game against Moghreb Tetouan in Morocco.
“Coaching staff preferred to rest Soliman and not to complete the session as they fear the injury could affect him more,” Ahly doctor Khaled Mahmoud was quoted as saying on the club’s official website Friday.
“Soliman’s situation regarding joining the game’s squad will be decided on Saturday,” the club doctor added.
The Cairo giants will be hosted by the Moroccan team on 19 April in Tetouan in the first leg of the tournament’s Round 16.
