Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny won his third successive Swiss league title with Basel after Sunday’s 2-1 win over Young Boys.
The win gave Basel an unassailable 11-point lead over second-placed Young Boys with three matches to go.
It is the sixth successive league title for Basel, who qualified for next year’s Champions League third qualifying round.
It also was the third straight league triumph for Egyptian international Elneny, who played the full match against Young Boys.
Elneny scored two goals in 25 league appearances this season. He also scored a goal in the Swiss Cup this term.
The 22-year-old joined Basel from Egyptian side Arab Contractors in January 2013.
Last October, Basel extended Elneny’s contract. The new deal will run until 30 June, 2018.
