Hull City (Elmohamady) Shock champions Leicester City 2-1

Egyptian international winger Elmohamady helped newly promoted side Hull City create a shocking opener for the Premier League after beating defending champions Leicester 2-1 on Saturday.

Having sprung one of soccer’s biggest surprises by winning the league last season, Leicester was on the receiving end of an upset after Robert Snodgrass rifled home Hull’s winner in the 57th minute.

Hull, which is still without a manager after Steve Bruce left in July, took the lead in first-half stoppage time with an acrobatic shot by Adama Diomande.

Leicester equalised with a penalty almost immediately after the re-start, Riyad Mahrez driving home the spot-kick.

Snodgrass restored Hull’s lead in the 57th minute with a powerful low shot from inside the area.

Leicester’s Jamie Vardy missed a series of chances in the first half.

Egyptian winger Ahmed Elmohamady played the full time in the Tigers’ first appearance at the top flight this term.

The 28-year-old winger, who initially joined Hull on loan in the summer of 2012 before becoming a permanent member of the team a year later, has contributed to Hull’s promotion to the top flight; the third in the last eight years.

He made 44 appearances and scored three goals last season with Hull in the English Championship.
