Al Masry advance in the CAF Confederation Cup despite losing 2-1
Egypt’s Masry made it to the Confederation Cup round of 32 despite losing 2-1 away to Zambia’s Green Buffaloes in the preliminary round return leg in Lusaka on Tuesday.
The Port-Said side went into the game with a four-goal lead, having triumphed 4-0 in the first-leg. They advanced with an aggregate 5-2 victory.
The hosts were the first to score through Mike Katiba as early as the 10th minute, before striker Ahmed Gomaa equalized four minutes later.
Stephen Kabamba scored another goal for the Zambians five minutes from time but it was too little, too late as Masry marched through.
The game has witnessed a red card late on, with the home side reduced to 10 men in stoppage time following the dismissal of Jackson Chirwa.
