Ahly will be in a must-win situation to continue their campaign towards their 41st league title.
The title holders currently lie second on the league table with 61 points from 27 matches, two points behind leaders Pyramids FC, who played two matches more. Talae Gaish are 10th with 34 points from 30 matches.
Ahly’s veteran playmaker Walid Soliman has rejoined the Reds squad for the first time in more than three months ahead of Wednesday’s Egyptian league match against rivals Talae Gaish.
Soliman has been sidelined since picking up a knee injury during the African Champions League match against Algeria’s JS de Saoura on 18 January.
The 34-year-old forward has been an inspirational figure with Ahly in last season’s African campaign before the team lost in the final to Esperance of Tunisia.
Playmakers Nasser Maher and Saleh Gomaa were lined up as replacements, but none of them could fill his boots.
Striker Marwan Mohsen, right-back Mohamed Hani and first choice keeper Mohamed El-Shenawy all appeared in the squad that was announced on Tuesday by coach Martin Lasarte after they recovered from recent injuries.
The Cairo giants will be missing midfielder Hossam Ashour, defender Saad Samir and midfielder Karim ‘Nedved’ Walid due to different injuries.
