Pyramid FC will Face Zamalek SC in Egypt Cup FINAL
Pyramids FC have reached their first-ever Egypt Cup final after beating Petrojet 2-0 on Monday to set up Zamalek final showdown.
Two first half goals by Eric Traore and Ibrahim Hassan guided the high-spending club Pyramids FC, formerly known as Al-Assiouty Sport, to reach their first ever final of a major competition. The club already became a rising football powerhouse in Egypt after being sold to foreign investors since 2018.
It only took Burkinaso Faso winger Traore 16 minutes to open the score for Pyramids FC from a well-placed header after receiving a perfect cross from teammate Eslam Eissa.
Petrojet squandered the opportunity to bounce back into the game when keeper Elmahdy Soliman denied Ahmed Afifi’s penalty kick in the 39th minute.
Just one minute before the break, winger Ibrahim Hassan sent a powerful shot from the edge of the area to double the score for Pyramids FC.
Pyramids will be facing cup holders Zamalek in Egypt’s secondary domestic competition final, but the match date is yet to be determined by the football association.
