Pyramids FC 1-0 Ittihad Tripoli | Match Highlights
Last season’s finalists Pyramids FC kicked off their Confederation Cup campaign with a 1-0 away win over Libyan side Ittihad Tripoli in the first leg of the competition’s round of 32, thanks to a 56th-minute winner from Ghanaian striker Jhon Antwi.
Antwi met a pinpoint cross from Ahmed Tawfik with a header that was parried by the keeper but followed up to net into an empty net on the rebound.
Pyramids could have also added to their lead but wasted a string of goal-scoring chances.
The match was held in Alexandria due to security concerns in Libya. Pyramids will host Ittihad Tripoli in the second leg after two weeks in Cairo.
The big-spending side, who are targeting their first continental title, reached the final in the past edition but lost to Moroccan side RS Berkane 1-0.
