Smouha Trashed Pyramids FC 3-0 | Egyptian League | VIDEO
Pyramids FC tasted a humiliating 3-0 defeat by a vibrant Smouha side in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday, less than a week before they host Morocco’s Raja in the first leg of the African Confederation Cup semi-final.
Playing their first league game in over a month after a lengthy break, Pyramids showed familiar defensive frailty as they conceded twice in a one-sided first half.
Ahmed Abdel-Kader, who is on loan from Cairo giants Ahly, gave Smouha the lead as early as the third minute when he made the most of a dreadful blunder from experienced central defender Ali Gabr.
Gabr, a former Egyptian international, gave away possession after failing to properly control a short back pass from a teammate and Abdel-Kader pounced to break clear and slot home.
Mostafa Fathi, who is on loan from Ahly’s Cairo nemesis Zamalek, doubled Smouha’s lead on the stroke of halftime with a deft finish after a swift breakaway left Pyramids’ defence in tatters.
Abdel-Kader completed the rout seven minutes after the break with a brilliant curling shot from the left hand side of the area as Smouha moved up to third on 40 points, continuing an impressive run of form.

Pyramids, who dropped to seventh in the league table, will be looking to put the defeat behind them and focus on their tough clash against Raja, who defeated them home and away in the Confederation Cup group stage.
The semi-final first leg will be held in Cairo on Sunday, with the return leg taking place a week later in Casablanca.
