Zamalek coach Jesualdo Ferreira heaped praise on his players after their Cup final victory against Ahly 2-1 on Thursday.
“We played a very good half and created a lot of chances. However we had a lot of difficulties in the second half and we could not change that.
“Our players faced a lot of pressure and were heroes today. The fans are also our heroes and they should be proud of their players. That’s our team and those are our players who will win many more things in the future,” the 76-year old Portuguese tactician said after the game.
After a 2-0 first half lead, Zamalek took their foot off the gas pedal as Ahly were on the forefront to bounce back in the game.
However the Whites were able to contain Ahly’s attacks to win their 28th Cup title.
Zamalek won their first title this year and have still two others to play in the next few weeks as they are leading the league table and competing in the 2022 Cup.
“We have a lot of determination and we want to win everything, especially the league title,” he concluded.
