ENPPI 0-2 Ahly
Goals By: Mohamed Magdi 59, Aliou Dieng 79
Ahly claimed an easy 2-0 win over Enppi at Arab Contractors stadium on Thursday to cement their position on the top of the league table.
Ahly are now on the driving seat with 30 points from 12 games, six points ahead second placed Zamalek who will face Dakhleya later on Thursday.
Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdi opened the scoring on the stroke of the hour-mark, while Malian midfielder doubled the lead 19 minutes later.
Ahly striker Mohamed Sherif wasted a chance to give his side an early lead in the fifth minute but his close range shot was blocked by the keeper.
Ahly pulled on the attack to open the scoring but they failed against a defensive-minded side Enppi.
The second half saw a complete domination from the visitors who were close on opening the scoring in many occasions.
They needed only 15 minutes to score when in-form midfielder Amr El-Sulaya clears Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdi who rounded the keeper to score in an empty net.
After Ahly’s goal, the hosts tried to level the score but they failed to make a real threat.
On the other hand, Ahmed Abdel-Kader and Hussein El-Shahat missed several chances to double the lead.
Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng added the second 11 minutes from time with an excellent individual show after gosting past two challengers to score at the top corner.
Zamalek 1-1 Dakhleya
Goals By: Mohamed Abdel-Ghani 90+5 / Samir Fekri 25
A goal deep in injury from Mohamed Abdel-Ghani grabbed a late equaliser for Zamalek 1-1 against Dakhleya at Cairo Stadium on Thursday to trail leaders Ahly by five points.
The Zamalek defender rose above his marker in the 95th minute to meet a pinpoint cross from Ahmed ‘Zizo’ Sayed to cancel Dakhleya’s lead.
A defensive lapse allowed Dakhleya winger Samir Fekri to put his side ahead in the 25th minute to stun the hosts who were looking to bounce-back from their defeat against Aswan on Monday.
The Defending champions slumped to their first defeat in the league on Monday when they lost 2-1 to Aswan before being held at home by the newly promoting side Dakhleya.
Zamalek, who are second with 25 points, risk losing their place if Future FC beat Ceramica Cleopatra on Saturday.
