Zamalek finally secured their second victory in the past nine games across all competitions, after defeating Smouha with a score of 3-1. This triumph comes during a season that could potentially be remembered as the most disappointing in the club’s history.
Shikabala took the lead for his team ten minutes before halftime at Alexandria’s Borg El-Arab Stadium. He was able to do this after receiving a beautifully executed low pass from right-back Sayed “Neymar” Abdallah within the penalty area.
Winger Ahmed “Zizo” Sayed, who failed to convert a penalty kick in the 26th minute, redeemed himself by scoring two goals for Zamalek in the 39th and 42nd minutes before the team headed to the locker room.
During the second half of the game, Zamalek took control and attempted to score their fourth goal, but their efforts were thwarted by Smouha’s defense.
One minute before the final whistle, Smouha forward Mohamed Sabahi scored the only goal for his team. He tracked the ball to the goal line and successfully finished, bringing the final score to 3-1 in favor of Zamalek.
The holders of the Egyptian Premier League title, Zamalek, moved back to fourth place on the league table with 32 points. They lag behind the top spot held by their arch-rivals, Ahly, by five points, despite Ahly having played three fewer matches.
Smouha stayed in the 12th place with 20 points after playing 18 games so far this season.
