In a thrilling match held at the Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Al Ahly claimed their 13th Egyptian Super Cup title by defeating Pyramids 1-0. This marks the team’s second consecutive victory in the competition.
After an intense 90-minute showdown that ended with a scoreless draw, the match’s only goal was finally scored in the 95th minute of extra time. Al Ahly’s Ali Malloul sealed the victory for his team with a perfectly executed penalty kick.
Despite having multiple opportunities to secure a comfortable lead, Kahraba and Hussein El-Shahat’s lackluster finishing prevented Al Ahly from putting the game beyond doubt.
As the clock ticked down, Pyramids FC launched a barrage of attacks in a desperate attempt to salvage a draw. However, Al Ahly’s goalkeeper, El-Shennawy, delivered a stunning performance, showcasing his exceptional form and skill to protect his team’s hard-earned victory.
Having won the 2021/2022 Egyptian Super Cup in Abu Dhabi, Al Ahly has now clinched the title for the second year in a row. The previous edition of the Super Cup was held at the Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain in October 2022, where Al Ahly emerged as the victors with a 2-0 win over their rivals, Zamalek.
