Following a goalless draw in the initial leg held in Rwanda last week, the determined Egyptian squad demonstrated their unwavering commitment to leaving a mark and securing a coveted spot in the group stage of this prestigious tournament.
The Egyptian winger, Mostafa Fathi, set the stage early on, shattering the stalemate just 18 minutes into the contest with a formidable long-range strike that left APR’s defense utterly helpless.
A mere four minutes later, Moroccan midfielder Walid El Karti further solidified Pyramids FC’s dominance by doubling their lead with a remarkable shot from outside the penalty area.
Fathi continued his scoring spree by finding the back of the net once more, this time ten minutes into the second half, ultimately sealing his hat-trick with a goal in the 61st minute.
The 29-year-old concluded his outstanding performance a mere nine minutes before the match’s conclusion, putting the finishing touch on a truly remarkable display of skill and precision.
In the 69th minute, Moroccan right-back Mohamed Chibi added to Pyramids FC’s tally with a finely executed goal, extending the gap between the two sides.
APR FC managed to restore a modicum of pride when substitute Victor Mbaoma found the net in the 86th minute. However, it proved to be a case of too little, too late, as the match ended with a resounding 6-1 victory in favor of Pyramids FC.
Right from the outset, the hosts demonstrated their determination, fashioning two clear-cut opportunities in the opening ten minutes courtesy of Walid El Karti and Ibrahim Adel. However, APR’s tenacious defense managed to thwart their efforts.
