Ahly asserted their dominance in the Group D encounter against Medeama from Ghana, clinching a decisive 3-0 victory at WE Al-Ahly Stadium on Saturday in the CAF Champions League.
In the 66th minute, Mahmoud ‘Kahraba’ Abdel-Moneim propelled Ahly into the lead with a header from inside the box, capitalizing on Emam Ashour’s impressive setup.
Hussien El-Shahat furthered Ahly’s advantage in the 75th minute with a brilliant close-range finish. Although Kahraba initially struck the ball, Medeama goalie Felix Kyei made a remarkable save, only for El-Shahat to follow up and double the hosts’ lead.
Substitute Salah Mohsen sealed the victory for Ahly just before full-time, heading in a precise assist from the talented midfielder Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdi from the right wing.
With this triumph, Ahly now occupies the top spot in Group D with three points, sharing the position with Algeria’s Chabab Belouizdad, who secured a victory against Young Africans of Tanzania on Friday.
