LIVE: Ethiopia vs. Egypt | 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers

Match K.O. 17:00 ET Canada-USA — 23:00 Cairo time (GMT+2).

Venue: Larbi Zaouli Stadium, Casablanca (Morocco)

Egypt will take on Ethiopia in the fifth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers this Friday at Morocco’s Larbi Zaouli Stadium, aiming to extend their impressive form.

The match will take place in Morocco since the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has yet to accredit Ethiopia’s stadiums.

The Pharaohs aim to move one step closer to securing their fourth World Cup appearance.

A victory for Egypt would strengthen their position at the top of the group and preserve their unbeaten record in the qualifiers. Meanwhile, Ethiopia will be eager for a win to keep their qualification hopes alive.

The Pharaohs sit atop Group A with 10 points, holding a two-point lead over second-placed Sierra Leone, while Ethiopia lags in fifth with just three points.

Hossam Hassan has called up a 24-man squad for the matches against Ethiopia and Sierra Leone. Securing all six points would guarantee Egypt’s qualification for the American edition of the World Cup.

Hassan will count on the attacking firepower of star forward Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, who has been shining at Manchester City.

On the other hand, Ethiopia’s coach Mesay Teferi acknowledged the threat posed by the duo but emphasized the need for caution against the entire Egyptian squad. “We are not solely focused on these two. Egypt’s quality is evident across all positions, particularly in attack,” he said during a press conference on Wednesday.

The two sides have faced off 17 times, with Egypt securing 12 wins, Ethiopia claiming three victories, and two matches ending in draws.
