Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has signed a new two-year contract at Anfield, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding his future with the Merseyside club.
Salah, whose previous deal was set to expire this summer, had fueled uncertainty by hinting that this could be his final season with Liverpool. However, the 32-year-old has now pledged his future to new manager Arne Slot’s side, committing to stay until at least 2027.
Negotiations, led by sporting director Richard Hughes and Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa, have been ongoing for several months. While reports recently suggested that Salah had agreed to a reduced salary to extend his stay, a source told ESPN that no pay cut was ever discussed.
“Of course, I’m really excited,” he said. “We have a fantastic team right now — and even before, we had a great team. I signed because I believe we have a real chance to win more trophies and to keep enjoying my football.”
“It’s been amazing. I’ve had the best years of my career here. Eight years already — and hopefully it’ll be 10. I’m loving life here, loving my football, and I’m just really happy.”
“To the fans, I just want to say: I’m very, very happy to stay. I signed because I believe we can achieve even bigger things together. Keep supporting us — we’ll give everything we have, and hopefully we’ll bring home even more trophies.”
Mohamed Salah arrived at Liverpool from Roma in the summer of 2017, quickly making an immediate impact. His incredible speed, finishing, and work ethic transformed Liverpool’s attack and elevated the club’s status in both domestic and European competitions.
Since his arrival, Salah has firmly established himself as one of the best forwards in world football, breaking numerous records and helping Liverpool win major trophies. His consistency and brilliance have made him a modern-day legend at Anfield.
