Ahly’s board agreed on Tuesday to play a friendly game against Spanish side Espanyol on 18 May.
“Ahly’s football committee initially accepted the offer, proposed by a sports marketing agency, to face Spanish side Espanyol in Spain,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
Ahly’s president Hassan Hamdy will go to Spain at the start of May to sign the contract for another friendly game against Atletico Madrid, set to be played next August.
He will also attend an International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) ceremony; the organisation has chosen Ahly as the best African and Arabic club of the past ten years.
