VIDEO: Egypt 4-0 Mauritius

Egypt eased to a 4-0 home win over lowly Mauritius on Friday in a warm-up for the crucial World Cup qualifier at Zambia on October 10th.

Mohamed Abou-Treika opened the scoring on seven minutes after latching onto a deft pass from Ahmed Hassan inside the area.

Skipper Hassan turned from provider to scorer to convert a penalty kick ten minutes later and double the score.

Classy playmaker Abou-Treika hit his second goal seven minutes from time with a close-range clinical finish.

Amr Zaki completed the rout in injury time from a second spot kick.

Egypt’s regulars took part in the game, except for Hosni Abd-Rabou who’s yet to join the national team, and Mohamed Barakat as the coaching staff preferred to rest him to avoid a possible relapse.

One-sided

The match was literarily one-sided. The Pharaohs took control from the very beginning, while Mauritius were unable to keep up with the home side.

The African champions could have widened the winning margin if it wasn’t for the visitors’ goalie, who blocked many of the Egyptians’ efforts throughout the game.

Amr Zaki was struggling in front of the goal, till he got on the score sheet in the dying minutes.

Gaish striker Salah Amin was injured after colliding with the keeper, to make way for Mohamed Al-Gabbas only after 15 minutes.

On his way to the dugout, Amin was spotted while shedding tears for missing out on the opportunity to prove his worth.

Egypt coach Hassan Shehata gave him a shoulder to cry on when he got off the pitch.
