Egypt and Ismaili keeper Essam Al-Hadari categorically denied considering retiring from international football.
After Egypt missed out on a chance to qualify for the 2010 World Cup, the talented goalie and several other Egyptian veterans were tipped to end their international careers.
However, Al-Hadari assured that he has no intention whatsoever of hanging up his boots, saying he can’t abandon the national team at this particular time.
“We are now eager to make amends in the 2010 African Cup of Nations,” the 36-year-old said on his personal website.
Egypt failed to reach the World Cup after losing to Algeria 1-0 in a World Cup playoff game last week.
Horrible post-match events saw Algerian knifemen hunt down defenseless Egyptians in the streets of Khartoum. A large number of Egyptian fans were terrorized and injured.
Al-Hadari believes that the Algerian players were not less aggressive than their supporters.
“They wanted to hurt every Egyptian players, their off-ball challenges were quite a few,” he added.
“The biased referee did nothing to stop them.”
