The teams come into the game having drawn the semi-final first leg 1-1 back in February. Since then, soccer in Italy has been paused as the nation locked down during the pandemic.

Each is vying for a place in the Coppa Italia final set to take place on June 17 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. The winner of this game will face off against either Napoli or Inter from the other semi-final.

Neither Juventus nor AC Milan has kicked a ball competitively since early March so the restart of the Italian cup competition will be a test for both sides. The game is set up beautifully after the 1-1 tie in the previous meeting where Cristiano Ronald netted a 91st-minute penalty to equalize.

Juve was in great form before the lockdown having only been defeated three times in 2020, even notching a 2-0 win against their Derby d’Italia rivals Inter in their most recent game. They currently sit at the top of the Serie A table by 1 point.

To the contrary, AC Milan had been in poor form before the break with only one victory in their last five games. They currently sit in seventh in Serie A, just outside of the Champions League places.

Though the odds certainly seem stacked in the home side’s favor, cup competitions can often throw up surprises. The long layoff from training and competitive games will also have taken its toll on both sides, so it’s difficult to predict the outcome of this game.
