MIDO has today joined Dutch giants Ajax.
The move is good news for Boro manager Gordon Strachan, who has been looking to move the Egyptian striker on as he builds a new squad for the coming season.
Mido signed for Boro in August 2007 in a £6m move from Tottenham Hotspur but scored just six goals in 25 games before leaving on loan to Wigan, Zamalek of Egypt and West Ham.
Ajax boss Martin Jol, who has also signed Mounir El Hamdaoui from AZ Alkmaar, managed Mido at Spurs and said: “He’s a great guy to have here. We had no options up front, but now we have two.”
