Egypt’s assistant coach, Shawky Gharib, announced that the team’s midfield will be boosted by Mahmoud Abdel-Razek ‘Shikabala’ and Hossam Ghaly. The duo are fit to join Monday’s training session amid preparations for Tuesday’s game against Burundi in the Nile Basin friendly tournament.
“We are testing our players in the ongoing Nile Basin tournament to select the best players at the end of the championship,” Gharib said after the 1-0 victory over Uganda on Saturday.
“Shikabala and Ghaly are fit to join the team in Burundi’s game,” he confirmed.
Zamalek forward Shikabala missed the previous game due to a foot injury he picked up during the pharaohs’ 5-1 win over Tanzania.
Ahly captain Ghaly had suffered a muscle injury during training that kept him out of the Uganda game.
Egypt lead Group A with 6 points after defeating Tanzania 5-1 and Uganda 1-0.
