“Meteb underwent scans and will be sidelined for six weeks with a left-ribs fracture,” Ahly doctor Walid Abdel-Baky told Al Ahram.
“Meteb will be hospitalized for 24 hours to make sure he doesn’t sustain more injuries,” he added.
The 27-year old forward clashed with Wadi Degla goalkeeper Haytham Mohammed within the first 10 minutes of their friendly game on Saturday; hereby Meteb was sent off to the players’ room and didn’t complete the match.
The Egyptian league holders Ahly were eager to boost their frontline after signing a three and half year contract with their former star Meteb, whose deal with Belgian giants Standard Liege collapsed in the summer.
Meteb resumed full training in December after spending five months on the sidelines due to a back injury and began to cement his place in the team’s line-up by playing friendly games.
