The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between South Africa and Egypt will be played in Gauteng, and indeed, SAFA have confirmed that the clash will be hosted at the Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
SAFA’s acting chief executive officer, Pinky Lehoko, revealed on the association’s official website that they are expecting a capacity crowd at the 60, 000-seater stadium as the match has generated a huge interest both locally and internationally.
“We are inundated with enquiries about our match against Egypt, and judging by the high level of interest, we are doing everything possible to ensure that come match day we give the spectators a wonderful football experience. We have involved a number of stakeholders in our quest to deliver a great event at the Ellis Park Stadium. “In the next 48 hours we will unveil a comprehensive plan around the match,” said Lehoko.
