QPR want £2 million Egypt’s international player Ahmed Fathy. The Al-Ahly ace, 26, has 107 caps and played for Sheffield Utd in 2007 under current Hoops boss Neil Warnock.
The 26-year-old signed for Neil Warnock and Sheffield United in 2007 at the tail end of the manager’s time there.Fathy, who can play at right-back or in midfield, failed to cut it in the Premier League and soon returned home to end up at champions Al-Ahly.
But after being named in the African Cup of Nations team of the tournament last year, the Rs boss thinks it can work second time around. He said: “If I can also get another defender, preferably on the left side, it can only be good. I’m optimistic that investment coming into the club will happen before the transfer window closes, and that might make a massive difference to us.”
