Al Ahly’s coach Manuel Jose announced that his team didn’t deserve a win over Algerian side Mouloudia Alger in the CAF Champions League.
“The team didn’t deserve to win, especially with our poor performance during the game,” Jose said to Al Ahly’s official website.
“Of course we missed Mohamed Barakat, Hossam Ghaly and Ahmed Fathi, but that’s not an excuse.
“I won’t dwell on absences, big teams should deal with these cases and Ahly have many players who can perform in big matches instead of their teammates.”
Ahly, missed out on the chance to move to the top of Group B after settling for a goalless draw at Mouloudia Alger in a dour CAF Champions League encounter on Sunday.
Ahly remained third in Group B of the CAF Champions League with five points, one behind leading duo Moroccan Wydad and Tunisia Esperance.
