After only two official matches Ismaily sacked coach Hossam Hassan.
Ismaily were eliminated from the cup quarter-finals after losing 3-1 to Arab Contractors, who were the bottom side in last season’s league competition.
“We have decided in our meeting late on Tuesday to thank coach Hossam Hassan for his efforts with the team and to appoint the club’s former player, Mahmoud Gaber, as his replacement,” the coastal club said in a statement on its official website on Wednesday.
“The other members of the technical staff will remain in their posts,” added the statement.
Hassan’s staff, which includes his twin brother Ibrahim as football director, was appointed this summer by Yehia Al-Koumi who stepped down after one month of his arrival.
The board of new chairman Raafat Abdul-Azim is now handed the responsibility of finding a new coach for the beleaguered Dervishes.
