Zamalek reject one-leg CL tie | African Champions League

Zamalek has turned down a suggestion proposed by Tanzanian side Young Africans to play their Champions League round of 64 tie over one leg, assistant manager Ismail Youssef revealed.

Tanzanian minnows Young Africans voiced their fear to play the second-leg away game in Cairo amid the ongoing unrest following the Port-Said disaster.

“Young Africans have proposed to face us over a one-leg tie as they fear playing in Cairo, but the CAF conditioned Zamalek’s approval first,” Youssef told FilGoal.com.
“We rejected that suggestion as we won’t give up our right to play at home like any other team in the competition.

“CAF will determine whether our home game would be staged in Cairo as we have alternative venues in case the game won’t be played here.”
As scheduled, the away game is to be held in Dar Es Salaam on 19 February as both teams meet in Cairo a fortnight later.
