Tunisia to bid for the 2017 U20 World Cup
Tunisia will launch a bid to host the 2017 U20 FIFA World Cup, officials announced on Wednesday.
The decision was reached during a meeting held at the headquarters of the Tunisia Football Federation in the North African country’s capital Tunis.
Tunisia hosted the first edition of the tournament in 1977. Officials said organizing the competition once more would help promote the sport among youths in the country.
The tournament was held last in 2011 in Colombia and won by Brazil, who now total five titles behind Argentina, the most successful with six victories.
The 2013 edition will be held in Turkey between June 21 and July 13, with Egypt, Ghana, Mali and Nigeria representing Africa.
