Gomaa refuses to play Orlando Pirates while fasting | CAF Champions League
Egypt and Ahly defender Wael Gomaa announced that the team will not play South Africa’s Orlando Pirates in the second match of the group stage while they are fasting, as it will affect the players’ performance in the game.
“It’s difficult to play a game while you are fasting,” Gomaa told the club’s official website on Sunday.
Ahly, the seven-time African champions, have officially asked the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to postpone the Orlando Pirates game for five days, to be played on 9 August instead of 4 August, in order to give them a chance to find a host stadium. |
