Al Ahly looks to secure spot in Champions League semi-finals with victory over Zamalek on Sunday, team manager Mohamed Youssef says.
With only two matches remaining, Ahly are leading the group with seven points, three ahead of Cairo foes Zamalek.
“Ahly and Zamalek games know no predictions as it’s a derby match between Egypt’s biggest teams and the Champions League’s most successful clubs,” Youssef said in an interview conducted in English with CAF online on Thursday.
“Both teams know everything about each other so it’s going to be a very tough game for both teams like all the derby games.
Zamalek’s Toulan: We respect Ahly but we fear no one
Zamalek manager Helmy Toulan admitted his team is facing a tough challenge, and told the Media that he considers the game as a decisive one for both teams to reach the knockout stage of the competition.
It’s going to be a very tough game. This is Egypt’s and one of Africa’s biggest derbies and there is a lot at stake for both sides if they want to reach the semis. Zamalek and Ahly both know that a win will keep qualification hopes intact. It’s going to be an open and exciting game.
