Al Ahly trashed Rajaa 3-0 in the Egyptian Premier League fifth matchday on Saturday January 18th 2014.
Ahmed Fathy, who was nominated for the CAF best player of the Year 2013 award (based in Africa), had a hand the Reds’ first two goals – scoring the opener in the first half and as young forward Amr Gamal hit the second after the break.
Striker El-Sayed Hamdy, whose son had been reportedly abducted ahead of the game, made it three in the 70th minute to complete the rout amid a tearful celebration.
After the victory at Alexandria’s Max Stadium, the African champions remain at the summit of Group A after four games as Ragaa are languishing at the bottom of the group.
